request an appointmentWhat is digital technology?
Digital technology refers to diagnostic imaging tools that present low radiation exposure compared with traditional and digital X-rays. These components use sensors and advanced photography methods to take pictures of your teeth, jaws, tooth roots, and gums.
Digital technology plays an important role in the diagnosis and treatment of oral health problems. It also makes it possible to develop customized orthodontic care plans that result in long-lasting, satisfying outcomes.
Are there different types of digital technology?
At Torok Orthodontics, the team offers a wide range of digital technologies, including:
iTero Element® intraoral scanner
The iTero Element intraoral scanner is an advanced digital tool that takes 3D optical impressions of your teeth and gums. Additionally, the technology enables Dr. Torok to better understand the alignment of your jaws and bite. Dr. Torok uploads the impressions to a computer program that allows her to gain further insights about your oral health. At Torok Orthodontics, the iTero Element plays an important role in the development of orthodontic treatment plans.
3Shape TRIOS® intraoral scanner
The 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner uses a wireless, hand-held tool to take impressions of your teeth and gums. The accuracy of these images allows for beautiful restorations and ensures orthodontic treatment directly aligns with your individual needs. This scanner also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make the scanning process quicker and more accurate.
i-CAT™ cone-beam computed tomography
The iCAT CBCT system by KaVo Dental Excellence uses 3D digital X-rays to produce a cone-shaped image of your teeth, mouth, and gums. The unique shape of these images provides the team at Torok Orthodontics with greater insights than non-3D digital X-rays. It’s especially beneficial in the placement of dental restorations such as implants but can also diagnose common oral health problems like temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder, gum disease, and tooth decay.
How can I benefit from digital technology?
Torok Orthodontics uses digital technology to diagnose oral health problems and develop custom orthodontic treatment plans. Whether you’re new to the practice or a longtime patient, chances are good you’ll benefit. These tools provide a wide array of important insights that can help preserve or improve your oral health.
